Ph.Dr. Hüseyin Can Aksoy

Associate Professor Dr. Hüseyin Can Aksoy is a graduate of Bilkent University Faculty of Law. He earned his master's degree from Ankara University and completed his PhD at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany. Since 2013, Dr. Aksoy has been a faculty member at Bilkent University Faculty of Law, where he also served as the associate dean for five years. He has authored and edited four books, in addition to publishing numerous articles and chapters in national and international journals, books, and encyclopedias. His interdisciplinary research spans topics such as international and European contract law, the law of obligations, economic analysis of civil law, and data protection law. Currently, Dr. Aksoy is a Visiting Researcher at the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College, where he conducts his research project titled as “How could privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) promote development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology without sacrificing privacy? A policy recommendation for Turkey”. Dr. Aksoy has received multiple prestigious awards throughout his career. In 2017, he was honored with the Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBİP) from the Science Academy of Turkey and the Young Scientist Award (BAGEP) from the Science Academy Association. In 2022, he received the Distinguished Teaching Award from Bilkent University in recognition of his excellence in teaching. The same year, he was also awarded the Ten Outstanding Young Person Award by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Turkey.
